Radon is a radioactive gas and has been identified as a leading
cause of lung cancer, second only to cigarette smoking in the
United States.

Radon can be a problem in all types of homes, including
old homes, new homes, drafty homes, insulated homes,
homes with basements and homes without basements.
The only way to know whether radon exists in elevated
levels in your home is to test.

The Macomb County Health Department recommends that all homeowners test for radon. Free radon test kits are available to Macomb County residents at the following Health Department offices:
