In an effort to increase communication with the citizens of the county, Macomb County instituted a free e-mail subscription service. The service makes it possible for interested individuals to receive an e-mail notice each time a county web page is updated.

For those who are interested in working for the county, they can sign up to receive e-mail every time a new job is posted. Or those that would like to become a vendor can be notified when new "request for bids" are released. And those that like to follow the work of Macomb's distinguished commissioners can request to receive a notice every time a new agenda is posted or the minutes of the last full board meeting are released.

In all, there are 230 pages for which anyone can ask to be notified when changes are made. There is no charge for this service and as of today, there are 9,600 subscribers accounting for more than 105,000 subscriptions.

The county contracts with GovDelivery to provide this service and is now making the program available to some of the smaller cities, townships and villages in the county. The obvious outcome of this program is that people who want to be informed, are informed in a very simple and effective manner.
