Committees

  • Livestock Sale Committee

This group provides leadership and coordination to the 4-H Livestock Sale held during the Armada Fair. Meetings are typically held in Armada (School District or Fairgrounds). Meetings are held from 7-8 pm on the fourth Monday of the following months: January (elections), April, June, July, September (check distribution), and October. Beef Showmanship Clinic

April 14th @ 9:00 a.m. @ Armada Fairgrounds 74280 Fair St, Armada, MI 48005-4711 this is a great day of learning and showmanship. This event will be informal so come and go when you need to. Please bring your 2012 show steer or heifer. No pre-registration required!! There will be the Lions food cart available for lunch.

  • 4-H Livestock Sale and Silent Auction

This event is traditionally held on Friday during the Armada Fair.  The 2012 Auction will be Friday, August, 17th beginning at 4:00 pm in Barn 15 (Livestock Barn) at the Armada Fairgrounds.

  • 4-H Livestock Sale Brochure: This brochure can be used to promote the 4-H Livestock Sale and Poultry/Rabbit Silent Auction. Make sure to customize and include date. ** Get creative and invite everyone you know to these Auctions.  People are comforted to hear of the quality and care that go into raising your livestock projects.
  • Poultry Evaluation Workshop: Hands on workship that will provide youth an opportunity to learn about all aspects of poultry evaluation in live birds, meat and eggs. Event will be held April 14 at the tollgate Farm Educational Center in Novi. Click here for registration form.
  • Beef Blasts

Throughout the year, hands-on activities are offered throughout the region for 4-H and FFA youth, leaders, and adults interested in beef and livestock projects.

Events and Training - Statewide

  • State 4-H Rabbit and Cavy Show

January -MSU

This year’s show will be held on January 28, 2012 at the MSU Pavilion and is open to all Michigan  4-H members 9-19 as of January 1, 2012. A non-competitive cloversprout division for 5-8 years of age is also available. On site registration begins at 6:30 am at it will be $2.75 per class. Other events that will take place at the show include Breed ID, Educational Posters and Displays, Ask the Vet student booth, and Supply Vendors.   • 4-H Beef, Sheep & Swine Teen & Adult Volunteer Workshop

February - Kettunen Center
If you're interested in 4-H beef cattle, sheep or swine projects, this workshop is for you. You'll learn about animal health, management, care and nutrition. In addition, you can sharpen your livestock judging and evaluation skills. By sharing ideas and interacting with others, you'll find ways to improve your county 4-H livestock program. The workshop also offers ways to enhance your communication and teaching skills, and learn about the many opportunities available for those interested in beef, sheep or swine projects. Open to adult and teen volunteers aged 13 and up. Macomb County 4-H Council partial scholarships are available for 50% of the cost. See grants and scholarships for forms and criteria.

  • 4-H Veterinary Science Teen & Adult Volunteer Workshop

February - Kettunen Center
Explore animal systems and learn about animal health for a broad array of species by sharing information and experiences, asking questions and quizzing veterinarians about their skills. You can also participate in hands-on demonstrations that teach you how to help members recognize healthy, sick or injured animals. Meet 4-H'ers who have developed outstanding veterinary science projects and gain ideas to help others start their own vet science projects. Open to adult and teen volunteers aged 13 and up. Macomb County 4-H Council partial scholarships are available for 50% of the cost. See grants and scholarships for forms and criteria.
