How To Join 4-H

What does 4-H offer?

  • For kids, 4-H offers fun learning opportunities through 4-H clubs, afterschool programs, mentoring, and local, state and international events.
  • For older teens, 4-H offers opportunities to set goals, develop strategies to reach those goals, and take leadership for sharing their skills, knowledge and talents to make their communities stronger.
  • For adults, 4-H offers research-based support and training in age-appropriate learning methods and materials to help plan activities and projects for young people in safe, nurturing environments.

Who can join 4-H?

  • 4-H programs are open to youth ages 5-19. Adults ages 19 and older are encouraged to join as volunteers.

How do I join 4-H?

  • E-mail the 4-H staff at Macomb County MSU Extension office or call them at 586. 469.6431. The 4-H staff can direct you to a club that meets your interest areas or can help you and an adult partner start you own.

AND/OR

  • Contact the leader of the club you are interested in joining. Club leaders can answer specific questions about their upcoming activities, meeting dates, times, and locations. The club leader will provide you an enrollment form to complete.

How much does it cost?

  • There is an annual $10 participation fee per youth member (maximum $30 per family). Scholarships are available for limited resource families. Some clubs may charge additional dues or do fundraising to help cover their costs.
