4-H Build Your Future: Entrepreneurship and Career Connections

Coming soon in April at the Kettunen Center

4-H has a unique opportunity to prepare our youth for a changing future.  Teens 12 (by January 1, 2013) and older and adult volunteers will participate in hands-on experience that will build 4-Hers’ futures through connecting 4-H experiences and projects to potential careers while fostering an entrepreneurial spirit!  Topics will include money-making, break-even analysis, target marketing, choosing the career that best fits you, how to turn your passion into profits, and using social media for advertising and networking.  This workshop is appropriate for teens and adults in all project areas.  Utilize this opportunity to gain skills and ideas to take home to your community and enhance your current projects!  Each track will include fun, hands-on learning activities and resources to take home.     Be the “E” Entrepreneurship 4-HCCS curriculum is a new and exciting way for middle and high school youth to learn if they have what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur. Visit www.n4hccs.org to order online.

  • YoungBiz.com – This teen resource Web site is dedicated to helping youth create their own business models and entrepreneurial skills
  • www.hotshotbusiness.com-This award winning Internet simulation game gives millions of boys and girls the chance to runs a business in Opportunity City. The Kauffman Foundation teamed up with Disney on this creative site. A Teacher’s Guide is available along with numerous lessons. For youth ages 9 to 12.
  • www.moneynighttalk.com - On the site, parents get tips on how to talk to their kids about money and access resources endorsed by the Council for Economic Education, based on the organization's national content standards.
