MCCSA's Senior Citizen Chore Service assists senior citizens with home maintenance and minor repairs. The program is available to persons age 60 and older who are residents of targeted areas in Macomb County and meet eligibility guidelines.
To make a request for grass cutting, call the phone number listed for your community between
February 1st and March 15th ONLY
Each year a new grass cutting list is created for seniors based on social and economic need. Those interested must make a new request every year. Notification will be mailed in April to those who have been placed on the grass cutting list. Grass cutting begins during the first week of May and continues through September. Lawns will be cut approximately once every two weeks. To make a job request call the phone number for your community as listed below.

August 15th and October 15th ONLY
Each year a new snow removal list is created for seniors based on social and economic need. Those interested must make a new request every year. Notification will be mailed in early December to those who have been placed on the snow list. Snow removal is performed after a snowfall of two or more inches. Under normal conditions, snow is cleared within one to five days of a snowfall. To make a job request call the phone number for your community as listed below.

Seniors requesting Chore Service are expected to share in the cost of providing the service. For each service performed, the senior should make an appropriate contribution. No one will be excluded from receiving services if their income does not permit them to contribute at the recommended level.

Service is limited and may be granted on a priority basis for those determined to be in the "greatest economic or social need." Seasonal services (grass cutting/snow removal) are available only in specific targeted community. Requirements set by local funding and demand may also affect the types of services available.
The Home Injury Control Program is available to qualified handicapped and frail persons, age 60 and older, who are residents of Macomb County and who meet eligibility guidelines.
Home Injury Control provides a one time service to install items such as bathtub grab bars, bathtub chairs, and handrails.
Service is limited and may be granted on a priority basis for those determined to be in the "greatest economic or social need." You may be referred to other resources.
Clients are expected to share in meeting the cost of providing the Home Injury Control Program by making a contribution based on the above sliding scale. This is a suggested level of cost-sharing. You will not be excluded from receiving service if your income does not permit you to contribute at the recommended level.
Home Injury Control does not involve home restoration or structural renovation. Home Injury Control does not involve repairs or home maintenance chores that must be repeated.
Home Injury Control also has a Temporary Modular Ramp program for eligible handicapped Macomb County residents age 60 or over. Please call for more information if you are in need of a handicapped ramp on a short-term or temporary basis.
