The facility was constructed in 1949 and has completed several renovations in years past to keep up with the changing needs of the health care environment and community needs. MTB will undergo an extensive renovation project over the next three years. A new addition is planned for the facility and improvements will provide a resident environment with additional personal space and privacy, while at the same time promoting resident dignity, safety and infection control.
New resident room designs will provide semi-private or private rooms with adjoining toilet and shower facilities. Increased space will be available in each resident area for clothing and wheelchair storage. Rooms will feature standard electric beds. Electric low beds will be used when indicated as well as specialty beds for wound care prevention and treatment. All rooms will be sprinkled for fire safety. New resident dining/lounge areas will be located closer to the nurse's stations for improved resident safety and security.
A new first floor Main Street will support a reception area and feature a barber/beauty salon, library, reflection room and cafe. A main event room for special events and educational offerings will be available, as well as a new mail room. Resident banking services (Resident Trust Fund) will be offered in the relocated Business Office. The Admitting Offices will also be relocated to Main Street.
Rehabilitation Services will occupy a new suite on the second floor. A second courtyard will be added and both the new and existing courtyard will be designed in coordination with the MSU Extension Master Gardeners.
