Jon Switalski was re-elected in November 2006 to represent the residents of District 4 in northwest Warren. The 2007-08 term will be his second on the County Board.

Switalski serves as Vice Chair of the Legislative and Administrative Services Committee and is a member of the Senior Citizens, Budget, Finance and Personnel committees.  Protecting and adding good-paying jobs, and assuring affordable prescription drugs are among Switalski’s top priorities. He also believes that senior citizens and people with disabilities should have access to affordable home health care rather than being forced into nursing homes.

He is a coordinator for Green Michigan, an organization that promotes environmental causes and recycling awareness.

Switalski, 28, is an organizer for the Service Employees International Union. He previously was an aide to former U.S. Rep. David Bonior and was an account manager for Universal Traffic Service.

In Switalski's first term, 2005-06, he authored and passed a Living Wage Policy ensuring that the Macomb County tax dollars will not subsidize poverty wages. He also led the effort to pass the proposal creating Macomb County's Dental Discount Program. This program, which was the first of its kind in Michigan, gives Macomb residents major discounts on all dental procedures.

He has a bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University, and graduated from St. Clement High School in Center Line.

Switalski is a life-long resident of Warren.
