Health, Dental and Vision Plans
We offer health, dental and vision plans that offer flexibility and choice. The County of Macomb currently funds 100% of coverage costs.
Health care benefits go into effect the first day of the month following sixty (60) days of continuous employment. We offer three different medical plans or an annual insurance bonus.
Dental benefits go into effect the first day of the month following six (6) months of continuous employment. We offer two different dental plans.
Vision benefits go into effect the first day of the month following sixty (60) days of continuous employment.
Vacation, Holidays and Sick Time
The County of Macomb understands the need to balance work life with home life. We have a time-off policy for vacation, holidays, illness, family and personal needs.
Retirement System
The retirement program is funded through both the employer and employee contributions. The County has adopted a defined benefit retirement plan where a monthly retirement benefit is established once minimum years of service and age requirements are met.
Deferred Compensation
Macomb County employees are eligible to contribute up to fifty percent (50%) of gross salary or $15,500 (whichever is less) to a pre-tax savings plan. The County does not contribute to this savings plan.
Reimbursement Account Program
The County of Macomb offers a pre-tax Reimbursement Account Program. Employees have the option of participating in the Health Care and/or Dependent Care program. Both accounts offer tax saving opportunities for high out-of-pocket expenses for health care and childcare.
Life Insurance
The County of Macomb offers life insurance provided by the employer for regular full-time budgeted employees. Additionally, the employer will provide a payroll deduction for employees wishing to purchase additional death benefit life insurance.
Long Term Disability
Long-term disability benefits go into effect the first day of the month following sixty (60) days of continuous employment. This benefit is intended for lengthy illnesses with a 180-day elimination periods, paying 60% of an employee's monthly income.
Employee Assistance Plan
The County of Macomb is committed to providing a quality workplace for all employees and a quality service to its residents. The County, and its employees, have agreed to work cooperatively with the Employee Assistance Program to assist employees voluntarily find help if needed. The E.A.P. assists employees who are having problems, identifies these problems as early as possible and provides confidential treatment and referral when personal and professional lives may be affected.
AAA Insurance
AAA offers a group discount for Macomb County employees who are interested in auto and/or home insurance.
Eligibility
Regular, full-time budgeted employees are eligible to participate in all programs. Part-time employees eligibility varies with each benefit based on collective bargaining agreements. Contact our Human Resources Department for more information.
