The Macomb County Clerk's Office, under the leadership of Macomb County Clerk Carmella Sabaugh, is the official Clerk for the Macomb County Charter Commission. Charter Commission Meeting Minutes and Agendas are recorded and maintained by the Macomb County Clerk's Office.

The law allows the Governor 30 days after her receipt of this document to accept or reject it. If it is accepted by the Governor, the Charter Commission will meet to be asked to schedule Tuesday, November 3, 2009 as the election day for Macomb County voters to decide if the Charter should be adopted. In addition, under a new state law, a separate ballot question regarding reorganization of the Board of County Road Commissioners under the Charter will also be asked for Macomb County voters to decide. The dates for election of a new 13 member Board of County Commissioners and the County Executive are to be proposed for a primary election on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 and a general election on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. With voter approval, this new form of Home Rule Government for Macomb County will begin on January 1, 2011.

Macomb County Charter Commission will hold regular meetings every other Wednesday at 7 p.m.,
and other meetings may be scheduled at the call of the Chair.
Committees will meet at the call of the
respective committee chairs.
