White has signed contracts with the State of Michigan and Motorola authorizing development and installation of a county-wide 800 MHz radio communications system for the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. The new system will enable emergency responders within Macomb County, and statewide who operate an 800 MHz radio system, to communicate with one another. “It is essential during an emergency situation for responders from multiple agencies to be able to coordinate their actions efficiently and effectively,” said Chairwoman White. “This is an important step in addressing Homeland Security; not only for the safety of our citizens, but police, fire and EMS personnel as well.” The Macomb County Office of Emergency Management is coordinating this project, and estimates that the system will be in full operation within two years. # # #
