Text Box: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Rhonda Deriemaecker, Dir. of Board Services May 12, 2004 Macomb County Board of Commissioners (586) 469-5125 MACOMB COUNTY HOSTS COMMUNICATION SUMMIT Macomb County, Michigan……Chairwoman Nancy White together with the Macomb County Board of Commissioners will host the first-ever countywide Communication Summit for its local elected and administrative officials on Tuesday, May 25, 2004. Officials and representatives from each city, township and village in Macomb County have been invited to attend this day long event being held from 8:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Macomb Intermediate School District, 44001 Garfield, Clinton Township. The Summit follows a series of Mayor’s Forums initiated in 2003 by Chairwoman White to create an open dialogue between individual communities and county officials and department directors. During those forums, communications were frequently raised as an issue of both interest and concern for the elected officials and managers as well. In response to that need, the Communication Summit was planned. The Summit will focus on “unification and integration through technology.” Teri Takai, CIO/Director of the Michigan Department of Information Technology will be the featured speaker. Ms. Takai will deliver the State perspective, and discuss the importance of state/local collaboration and information technology strategic partnerships. Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nancy White stated, “The goal of this Summit is to provide an opportunity for all Macomb County communities to unify and integrate services and information, while allowing those communities to maintain their autonomy in meeting their residents’ needs.  This is an exciting first step.”
