Clemens General Hospital to host a local “Cover The Uninsured Event.” The event will take place on Thursday, May 13, 2004 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Mt. Clemens General Hospital Auditorium, 1000 Harrington, Mt. Clemens. This event is part of the national Cover The Uninsured Week 2004 campaign taking place May 10 – 16, 2004, and is sponsored by the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan and several other medical, education, labor and faith-based sponsors. Nearly 1,500 public events will take place in all 50 states and the District of Columbia during the Week, designed to bring together diverse community leaders to insist that all Americans have access to health care coverage. These events are designed to help uninsured individuals get services and provide information to small business owners struggling to provide health insurance for their employees. Nancy M. White, Chairwoman of the Macomb County Board of Commissioners stated, “I am pleased to invite our small business community to this special luncheon in order to focus local attention on the national health care crises, and its effect on Macomb County. Nowhere is the pain felt greater than by our small business leaders, entrepreneurs and their employees. Solutions cannot come too soon.” Scheduled speakers for the “Cover The Uninsured Event” on May 13, 2004 include: Jan Christensen, Deputy Director, Health Policy, Regulation & Professions Administration, Michigan Department of Community Health; Anthony Forlini, President, Design Financial, Inc.; and Vicki Selwa, Regional Representative, Office of Senator Carl Levin.
