New for the 2009-2010 Academic Year! Point Options for Emerald or Evergreen Status

These additional designations and point options are not part of the law governing the Michigan Green Schools Program. The Southeast Michigan Green Schools Initiative has enhanced their Green Schools Programs to continue to challenge schools to do more environmental activities.

Note: Schools must meet 10 points from the Green Status Points list to achieve initial Green status, and may elect to achieve higher status by choosing additional activities from the list below.

Emerald designation – 15 points
The Emerald designation can be achieved by successfully participating in 15 points. This must include 10 of the 20 original points listed above, and the other 5 points can be from the original 20, the list of new points below, or a combination of both.

The Evergreen designation can be achieved by successfully participating in 20 points. This must include 10 of the 20 original points listed above, and the other 10 points can be from the original 20, the list of new points below, or a combination of both.
