Macomb County Register of Deeds Office

The Macomb County Clerk / Register of Deeds Office is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Note: the recording counter will close at 4:30 p.m. (Documents received after 4:30 p.m. will be recorded the next business day.)

Search Instructions

Search By Internet


www.landaccess.com offers internet access to property records. Indexes are available for records after October 1981 and document images after 1992.

Monthly Members -- Per month subscription fees:

  • $44.00 per month or 80 searches
    ( whichever comes first)
  • $90.10 per month or 170 searches
    ( whichever comes first)
  • $135.20 per month or 260 searches
    ( whichever comes first)
  • $220.50 per month or 450 searches
    ( whichever comes first)

(In addition to any other fees there will be also a $0.75 per document view) To become a monthly user simply fill out the registration form, choose a Member ID and Password for future visits.

Pay-Per Access Members/Search -- $5.00 per Search PLUS $1.00 per document view. To become a pay-per access user simply fill out the registration form, choose a Member ID and Password for future visits.

Other Searches -- To register for Entry Book only, (at $5.00 per search) simply fill out the registration form, choose a Member ID and Password for future visits.

Home Security Search -- This FREE search allows you to check your own property. Click on "Home Security Search" at top of our landaccess.com log-in screen.

Search By Mail


CLICK HERE to download the Macomb County Real Estate Records Search Form, by fax in Michigan call 1-888-99-CLERK or out-of-state call 310-575-5035 and request document 7090, or in writing to the Register of Deeds and provide the type of document being requested, Grantor/Grantee names, approximate date it was recorded, and either an address, legal description or lot number. Any additional information would be helpful.

Searches performed by the Register of Deeds staff will cost a minimum of $5.00 per search within 10 years from the date of search. If the document is older than 10 years, $.50 per additional year must be included in the fee. For example: 12-year search = $6.00.

Search In Person


Public computer terminals in the Register of Deeds can be used free of charge to view Indexes for records after October 1981 and document images after 1992. Searches performed by the Register of Deeds staff will cost a minimum of $5.00 per search within 10 years from the date of search. If the document is older than 10 years, $.50 per additional year must be included in the fee. For example: 12-year search = $6.00.

Copies of documents are not made after 4:30 p.m.; however, searches can still be conducted. Copy orders for more than 15 pages will be available the next business day after 12:00 p.m.

LARGE VOLUME SEARCHES FOR BANKS, MORTGAGE COMPANIES AND CORPORATIONS WILL NOT BE PERFORMED BY THE REGISTER OF DEEDS STAFF. PUBLIC COMPUTER TERMINALS ARE LOCATED IN THE REGISTER OF DEEDS SEARCH AREA AND ARE AVAILABLE FOR SEARCH USE.

Required Information For
Mortgage, Discharge or Assignment


You must provide as much of the following information when searching for a MORTGAGE, DISCHARGE, or ASSIGNMENT

  • Mortgagor's name

  • Mortgagee's name

  • Legal description (not just the address)

  • Year of lien if mortgage

  • Year of recording if discharge or assignment

  • Assignment search: must have name of assignor, assignee, liber and page of mortgage.

  • Discharge search: must have liber and page of mortgage.

  • Stamped self-addressed stamped return envelope.

  • A check for $5.00 (minimum fee) for a ten year search; $.50 for each additional year.

Required Information For
Death Certificate, Deed Or Land Contract


You must provide as much of the following information when searching for a DEATH CERTIFICATE, DEED OR LAND CONTRACT:

  • Name of Grantor or Grantee

  • Legal Description (not just the address)

  • Approximate year of recording

  • Stamped self-addressed stamped return envelope.

  • A check for $5.00 (minimum fee) for a ten year search; $.50 for each additional year.
