Recording Documents -- At this time, only 5 documents will be accepted at the counter for immediate processing per customer, per day. (Checks or cash only. Credit cards cannot be processed at this time.) Any documents dropped off will be processed as "mail" for that date and must be accompanied with checks ONLY (one check per document or a blank check is suggested). Please see the Register of Deeds website for "Status of Recorded Documents" to find what date RECEIVED for mail is currently being processed.
Searches -- Searches can now be conducted by the Register of Deeds staff for a fee. There are a few public computers available for customers to conduct their own search. Copies of documents are $1 per page..

Search In Person -- Public computer terminals in the Register of Deeds Office can be used free of charge to search (by name only), view index and document images for records from October 1, 1981 to present. Recording Counter Hours
The Macomb County Register of Deeds RECORDING COUNTER
will officially be closed at 4:00 p.m. each day. Any document received after 4:00 p.m. will be dated and time stamped for 8:00 a.m. the next business day, at which time, they will be processed into the Entry Book, reviewed and accepted or rejected for recording. The documents will be mailed back to the "return to" on the document or picked up by authorized title company representatives.

Transfer Tax
Due to House Bill 6122 approved on January 9, 2009, there have been changes made to some of the state exemption letters for MCL 207.526 [letters (p) through (w)], pursuant to HB 6122 of 2008.
