Judge Miller earned his law degree from the University of Detroit in 1982. He practiced law in Mount Clemens, with emphasis on probate, family and juvenile matters until November of 1992, when he was appointed as a workers' compensation magistrate. The following year he was advanced to the Workers' Compensation Appellate Commission, where he served as chairman from June of 1995 until his appointment as a circuit judge in December of 1998. Judge Miller is an elected member of the Michigan Judges Association, the Macomb County Bar Association, Rotary International, the St. Johns North Shore Hospital Advisory Board, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Vietnam Veterans Association, the Selfridge Air National Guard Base Community Council, and the Experimental Aircraft Association.
