Detroit-Windsor Tunnel

Located less than 30 miles from the heart of Macomb County, the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel is the only vehicular international sub-aqueous border crossing in the world. It has been recognized as one of the great engineering wonders of the world and remains one of the busiest crossings between the United States and Canada. Located between Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario, connecting the US Interstates to Ontario’s Highway 401, it is one of the fastest links between Ontario and the United States.

The tunnel serves as the primary link between the downtown core of both Detroit and Windsor and is mainly used by light vehicles and buses. Over 20,000 vehicles use the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel each day.
