Utilities

Macomb County’s utilities infrastructure is relied upon by thousands of energy-intensive advanced manufacturing operations.

Electricity

Provided by Detroit Edison, a subsidiary of DTE Energy. DTE provides a full range of economic development services to companies considering relocating or expanding in the County.

Gas

Natural Gas is provided by Consumer’s Energy in southern Macomb and by SEMCO Energy Gas Company in the northern part of the County.

Water & Sewer

Municipal water and sewer systems serve most of the urbanized areas of southern Macomb. Local water utilities are supplied by the Detroit Water and Sewer Departments, the country’s third largest water and sewer utility.

The Detroit Region’s plentiful supply of fresh Great Lakes water has helped keep rates among the lowest in the nation. For accurate water rates, contact the water department of the municipality.
